These exhibitions will be distinguished by separate gallery spaces. The opening reception for all of these exhibitions will occur on the same evening. Sarasota, Fla.- Mack b projects presents three exhibitions, January 12-31, with an opening reception Saturday, January 12, 6:00-9:00pm. Gallery 1: In the exhibition “How to find and seize a Doppelganger,” Kevin Costello will assemble drawings, sculptures and installations from multiple bodies of work. Spanning from a formalist approach of “crazy paving,” to photographs of the artist searching for his doppelganger, Costello’s work reveals the underpinnings of his obsession with art, in its myriad manifestations. Gallery 2: In the exhibition “No Such Thing,” Sörine Anderson will install several sculptures that investigate the interweaving of language and myth. Using imagery borrowed from historical myths, Anderson’s objects often infer a macabre and occult sensibility that explores the boundaries between disparate perceived truths and the sometimes-vague nature of human relationships. Gallery 3: In the exhibition “NYC: Above and Below,” Charles Reich will install a series of digital photographs that attempt to capture some of the monumental moments New York City encourages in the instances that flash by while moving around its geography. Reich’s visual and aural installation represents a “cellular circulation of human energy [that] is the source of the city’s sustainability.”
